The cave was reported by Manuel García Arévalo, Julia Tavares and Dato Pagán in 1978. It contains around 300 paintings and 21 petroglyphs.
This cavern is one of the most important in the Caribbean in terms of the rock art it contains. The pictographs correspond to the Borbón School in all its aspects.

A large figure stands out, almost 80 centimeters long, on which two birds walk and is associated with a painting of the mythical twins. This animal that is traditionally supposed to be a dog, it is also possible that it is the representation of the jaguar, even though these species never lived in the Antilles. In the myths of the peoples of the Orinoco-Amazon area, the jaguar is frequently linked to the story of the mythical twins, and an animal of this species can be seen painted in a quite recognizable way in the Línea del Ferrocarril cave.

Este animal que tradicionalmente se supone es un perro, también cabe la posibilidad de que se trate de la representación del jaguar, aún cuando estos felinos nunca vivieron en las Antillas. En los mitos de los pueblos de la zona Orinoco-amazónica el jaguar se vincula frecuentemente a la historia de los gemelos míticos, y un animal de esta especie podemos verlo pintado de manera bastante reconocible en la cueva de la Línea del Ferrocarril.
